The Sustainable Homes program aims to:

• demonstrate to industry stakeholders and consumers the practical and financial benefits of sustainable housing using a triple-bottom line approach (balancing environmental, social and economic aspects)

• increase the uptake of more sustainable practices among Queensland housing industry and consumers
  
  
• create greater consumer demand for sustainable housing design and products
  
  
• present a holistic and integrated design response for housing suitable to Queensland's favourable lifestyle and climate, which complements the local urban fabric
  
  
• improve the sustainability performance of Queensland's housing stock
  
  
• influence future housing development
  
  
• provide tools, policies and planning instruments to support more sustainable housing and urban development
