The Housing Industry Association (Queensland) is a proud partner of the Sustainable Homes program. Not only does the Sustainable Homes program closely align with the HIA GreenSmart program, HIA also believes that educating consumers through the construction of real life demonstration models about the benefits of sustainable housing is a significant step in generating an increase in market demand for this style of housing. HIA considers this is the most cost-effective method of moving the housing industry towards the delivery of more sustainable housing design and products on the ground.

The HIA is actively promoting the Sustainable Homes program through its membership. It is also:

providing specialist design advice as part of the review process for each of the display homes;

targeting awareness of the program and seeking participation from local tradespeople in sustainable display home locations; and

providing GreenSmart training sessions in Sustainable Home locations to support local industry knowledge on sustainable building and construction practices.
