The Sustainable Home Cairns is a privately funded venture by Indigo developers, with the support of Cairns City Council. The house is located at Palm Cove, a seaside residential settlement 20-minutes drive north of the Cairns CBD. The project is part of a resort estate, and hence the house design reflects this holiday feel and multiple large outdoor living spaces within and around the house. It is expected that the house will be used as short to medium-term holiday accomodation. The design allows for flexibility in household size and make-up.
