The design of Sustainable Home Gladstone has taken into consideration the site's climate, its high profile street address at the entry to the development and the need to provide outdoor spaces which offer privacy from such a highly exposed position. The design provides simple, legible planning composed of a 'living wing' and a 'sleep wing'. As such, the simplicity of the plan, its building envelope and roof structure provides for a cost effective design solution. Large eave overhangs, large breezeway openings and its northern living areas have been incorporated to maximise the natural benefits of the site and its local climate. The design is also able to be adapted to meet the changing lifecycle needs of its occupants.
Construction type
