28 Bernborough Avenue, Moranbah.
The Emergency Long-term Accommodation Moranbah (ELAM) has commissioned the Architectural Practice Academy to design a new community accommodation house utilising sustainability principles. Sustainable Home Moranbah will initially be open for public display as part of the program, prior to it being used as community housing.
Sustainable Home Moranbah will be used to address housing shortfalls in the community.
Given some constraints, the house will be based on a compact building footprint for 4 bedrooms of approximately 125m2 (excluding the carport). In response to the circumstances, the design has been configured as open floor and linear, with minimal corridors to save space. It will still be able to cater for accessibility needs.
The project is currently at schematic design stage. Drawings are in the process of being finalised for presentation to ELAM and the Sustainable Homes Steering Committee.
