Vision
The Sustainable Home program aims to increase the uptake of more sustainable housing practice among Queensland industry and consumers.
Sustainable housing is defined as designing, planning and building dwellings to make them more socially, environmentally and economically responsible.
Goals
- To increase the public’s understanding of the importance and value of more sustainable housing design and construction practices for residential homes in Queensland.
- To guide industry and consumers on how to achieve more sustainable housing and facilitate the construction of sustainable houses by these audiences.
- To facilitate collaboration and cooperation among the program’s industry partners to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
- To gain public recognition that a balanced consideration of social, economic and environmental elements are fundamental to the provision of sustainable housing.
Key Objectives
Key objectives of the Sustainable Home communications program include:
- Promote sustainable housing to building and construction industry, homebuyers and renovators.
- Recognise the achievements and strengths of each of the program partners in the delivery of sustainable housing.
- Demonstrate and promote the value of investment in sustainable design at the household and community level.
Key Messages
- Sustainable housing is simple, common sense housing design that is attainable for everyone.
- There are substantial lifestyle and investment benefits of building a sustainable home. A sustainable home is one that will meet your needs as they change throughout your life, as well as make it more liveable, safe, secure, cost efficient and environmentally friendly.
- Every small step towards sustainability is a positive step forward.
- To be more sustainable is not difficult and there are plenty of resources to help.
