Stage One - Feasibility
- Market research (Part A)– Helps compile background information to enable an analysis of the local government area’s demographics and current residential market demands, and an understanding of the site’s characteristics.
- Market research (Part B) – To assist in gathering data from local real estate agents for inclusion into the main questionnaire (Part A).

- Project timeline (Baseline program) - To assist in the establishment of a time baseline so specific target milestones can be achieved.
- Financial feasibility – A spreadsheet based format that summarises all the costs (hard and soft) associated with the project and indicates if the project is feasible based on the market cost expectation. Provides allowance for market and subsidised cost expectations.
Stage Two – Design brief
- Smart Housing Design Objectives – Sets out the minimum design criteria that each Sustainable Homes project must address.
- Climate Design Table – Represents a general reference guide on key passive design responses required for housing in each of Queensland ’s four climate zones.
- Design brief – To help solicit suitable consultancy services for the design, documentation and site supervision of the sustainable home project.
Stage Three – Engaging consultants
- Expressions of interest - To help solicit suitable consultancy services by expression of interest through Council processes and via the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Queensland Chapter. It also includes a summary which can be used as the basis of ads in newspapers for the calling of interest in the first instance.
- Architect interview – Indicative questions to assist the architect selection interview process.

Stage Four – Design & Specification
- Product & sponsorship reference – A reference tool to help solicit suitable product, material and services sponsorship for the project.
- Product & sponsorship invitation letter - An introductory letter template for sending to potential sponsors.
- Sponsorship agreement - An agreement template to record and confirm a mutually beneficial arrangement between the responsible entity and the proposed sponsor in the matter of the construction, development and promotion of a Demonstration Project.
